Précision_sur la representation :	Le sujet est souvent traité à la fin du Moyen Age, en particulier dans l’art flamand, mais est peu représenté dans la statuaire de la Marne. Le Christ est debout, bien campé, la jambe gauche un peu plus en avant que la droite. Dénudé, il croise en signe de douleur, ses avant-bras sur sa poitrine. Il porte les signes de la dérision royale, données par les soldats : la couronne d’épines, le jonc en guise de sceptre et la grande cape qui tombe droite. La tête s’incline légèrement, le visage aux joues creusées marqué par une souffrance contenue. Les yeux sont fermés. Les cheveux tombent en deux mèches qui serpentent jusqu’aux épaules. Serré sans nœud autour de la taille, le périzonium et un linge court et fait de nombreux petits plis horizontaux. Son visage ressemble à celui du Christ bénissant d’Ecollemont. Mais le traitement des cheveux diffère, comme celui des plis, plus proche de l’art du XVIIe siècle.
